Minnesota Department of Human Services- Behavioral Healthcare Services

August 1979 - January 2017

  • Provided comprehensive psychological services as Staff Psychologist to various inpatient programs serving adults with psychiatric, chemical dependency and geropsychiatric disabilities.                                                                                             

  • Conducted a wide variety of psychological tests and evaluations.

  •   Offered individual and group therapy support within inpatient and outpatient settings.

  • Developed positive behavior support programs with subsequent coaching, staff   consultation and training. 

  • Participated in interdisciplinary treatment teams, advocating for person-centered treatment planning and trauma-informed care. 

  • Facilitated referrals for various community programs, including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) services, forensics and nursing home placement, often followed by subsequent follow-up services in community facilities 

  •  Conducted Critical Incident Stress Debriefings for facility and community agency or facility staff.

  • Initiated and managed a Family Day program to support families of persons in treatment and developed work therapy services for elderly individuals in various supported living environments.

  • Offered community mental health support as the Crisis Prevention Consultant for the Region 4 South Mental  Health Initiative, serving consumers and providers within group homes, drop-in centers, nursing homes and sheltered workshops.


 

St. Cloud Veterans Administration Medical Center Research Service

May 1974 - August 1979

  •   Participated in and co-authored various research studies and treatment evaluations.

  • Conducted psychological testing, patient interviews and other methods of data collection.

  • Completed practicum and internship requirements for graduate education.
